The Machulo La K2 Viewpoint Trek offers an easy, economical, and brief adventure, perfect for trekkers of all levels. This trek provides unparalleled views of some of the world’s highest peaks, including K2, Gasherbrum I, II, III, and IV, Nanga Parbat, and more. Starting from Machulo Village, the trail ascends gradually over two days to reach the summer pastures, surrounded by shepherd huts and grazing livestock.

Trekkers will enjoy the scenic beauty of Machulo Village, with its streams, wild trees, and apricot blossoms. The trek includes a comfortable overnight stop at Camp I, followed by a final ascent to Camp II, set on green pastures under a star-filled sky. The ultimate highlight is the 2-hour trek from Camp II to Machulo La, offering a breathtaking 360-degree view of the Ghanche District and the majestic Karakoram peaks.

The trek peaks at 5071 meters, making it accessible for beginners and rewarding for experienced trekkers. This journey, lasting 10 days from Islamabad, includes four days of camping and five days in hotels, with the best season being April to November. This unforgettable experience showcases the beauty and grandeur of Pakistan’s Karakoram Range.

Day 1 Arrival in Islamabad

Day 2Islamabad to Skardu

  • Fly from Islamabad to Skardu.
  • Transfer to your hotel in Skardu.
  • Relax and acclimatize to the altitude.

Day 3Skardu to Machulo

  • Drive from Skardu to Machulo village (approximately 4 hours).
  • Experience the local culture and hospitality.
  • Overnight stay in Machulo.

Day 4Machulo Village to Camp I (Khady Broq)

  • Star trek from Machulo Village
  • Gradual ascent through scenic trails (3-4 hours)
  • Set up camp at Camp I
  • Enjoy the natural surroundings
  • Overnight camping at Camp I

Day 5Camp I to Camp II (Qoli-brangsa)

  • Continue trek from Camp I to Camp II (3-4 hours)
  • Hike through beautiful pastures and wild landscapes
  • Set up camp at Camp II
  • Enjoy starry night skies and breathtaking views
  • Overnight camping at Camp II

Day 6Camp II to Machulo La K2 Viewpoint and Return to Camp II

  • Early morning trek to Machulo La K2 Viewpoint (2 hours)
  • Enjoy panoramic views of K2, Gasherbrum I-IV, Nanga Parbat, and other peaks
  • Spend time at the viewpoint, taking photos and soaking in the scenery
  • Return to Camp II for lunch
  • Relax and explore the area around Camp II
  • Overnight camping at Camp II

Day 7Camp II to Machulo Village

  • Trek back from Camp II to Machulo Village (5-6 hours)
  • Enjoy the descent and the changing landscapes
  • Arrive in Machulo Village and transfer to guesthouse
  • Overnight stay in Machulo Village

Day 8 Machulo Village to Skardu

  • Drive back from Machulo Village to Skardu (6-7 hours)
  • Check-in at hotel in Skardu
  • Free time to explore Skardu or relax
  • Overnight stay in Skardu

Day 9 Skardu to Islamabad

  • Fly back from Skardu to Islamabad.
  • Transfer to your hotel in Islamabad.
  • Optional: Explore more of Islamabad or rest.

Day 10Departure from Islamabad.

  • Transfer to Islamabad International Airport.
